This week I talked Vegas betting trends with Forbes because local bettors are swarming to the off strip casinos here in Vegas. This all happening while casinos along the main Strip struggle since Covid-19 broke out in March.
Did you know casinos off the Strip saw gambling revenues increase by 10% in August (compared to August 2019)? During this same time, gambling revenue at casinos on Las Vegas Boulevard dropped 39% that same month, year over year. I talked to Forbes reporter Will Yakowicz about seeing people flock to the slots and video poker at off-strip venues. I’ve lived in Vegas for nearly 20 years now as a professional sports bettor and I shared a few quips about what’s happening here locally. I was shocked to see people waiting in line to play video poker, even at the grocery store. Meanwhile any off-strip bar with video poker is also bringing in the crowd.
