Slowly but surely, we are inching toward feeling a little more normal. For some, it means sending kids back to school. For others, it means the re-opening of their favorite local restaurant or being able to get their hair or nails done at the salon. Below is my sports betting picks recap for the week of 9-16-20.
NFL Picks: Betting Recap
For millions of Americans, the return of the NFL this past weekend was much more than sport. It was about being able to rely on something that we took for granted. It was about correcting our internal clocks that had gone awry the past several months. When we saw ten games grace our TV, you know what it felt like….it felt like SUNDAY. For the first time in months, after everything seemed to just blend together, a day felt like a day. And then again the next day, when the Giants and the Steelers kicked off, it felt like it was Monday night. The NFL, more than any other sport, has the ability to bring us together. Not just because of the sport, but because of the routine and atmosphere that surrounds it. Whether families, friends, or fantasy opponents, the NFL brings us a joyful connection with the outside world. In 2020, that’s much more important than who wins or loses.
As for the games themselves, it was close to what I expected. The lack of fans was certainly strange at the start of the game when they panned the stadium. However, it became much less of a factor as the game progressed and the focus centered on what happened on the field. I thought the play was a bit sloppy – penalties and missed tackles – but that was to be expected with limited training camp and no preseason games. On Sunday, the over hit 9 out of 14 games. We will see if that trend continues as the defenses get up to speed. As I have preached for years, no league sees more fan/talking head/sportsbook overreactions than the NFL and ESPECIALLY in Week 2. The Cowboys, Eagles and 49ers are in trouble….the Cardinals and Redskins are reborn….the Lions, Jets and Browns stink. Look for the lines to overreact to the Week 1 results and remember that “Any Given Sunday” means there are no sure-things in the NFL.
Last week, we got back to our winning ways going 18-14-1 for the week (+2.15 units). The NFL started out on fire with a 11-4 mark. We went 8-3 on props (+3.6 units), 2-0 on totals (+3.5 units), and 1-1 on teasers (-.2 units).
As you know, NFL is the hardest sport to beat. If you stick with our system and don’t over-bet or chase, you are going to come out with the green this season.
College Football Picks: Betting Recap
In contrast, college football started slowly going 1-3-1 (-4.8 units). I think the absence of fans and that wonderful atmosphere will affect these college kids far more than the pros. We will keep our eye out for any variances in the standard capping.
WNBA Picks: Betting Recap
We saw limited action on the WNBA, 1-2 (-1.1 units) and NBA, 1-0 (+1.75 units) as the seasons come to a close. I hated to see the end of that Miami game, putting Boston in a 0-1 hole. We will keep our fingers crossed that it was a blip, as we are sitting on a Boston to Win the East future at +800, a play delivered to our customers before the season started last October.
KrackWins Sports Betting Picks Recap
It is going to be a wild few months as we close a year unlike any before it. The return of football will help some, but it is only a small piece of the puzzle America is putting together. I am thankful for my team, for KrackWins Nation, and for all the action to come.
