NCAAB Primer: Sports Betting Tips for the 2021/22 Season

Nov 8, 2021 | Primers, Krackology, NCAAB, NCAAB Primer, Sports Betting Tips

Without a doubt, last year was unlike any other in the world of College Basketball.  Not just for the players, coaches and fans, but for the handicappers as well.  There were just so many unknown variables due to the ramifications of Covid-19.  Teams started the season at different times, most pre-conference games were cancelled, arenas were empty, and player after player was scratched from the lineup – often just prior to tipoff.  I am so excited for things to get back to normal this year.  There is nothing like a fired up home crowd full of wild students at a college basketball game.

Betting Tips for College Basketball

For the past decade, no sport has treated me and my bankroll better than college basketball.   Each and every year, the NCAAB season provides some of the best action on the market.  If you have been following me over the past few years on KrackWins, you know I preach over and over about the mantra of money management and finding value and success over the long run.  College Basketball is, without a doubt, the sport that provides the biggest return when applying these commandments.  Here are a few sports betting tips to get you rolling in the green this season.

1. Tons of Teams = Tons of Value

As KrackWins members know, we have been regularly beating FCS and smaller market football games.  Why?  There simply is less information out there on the lesser known teams for the bookmakers to set the number which means loose lines are plentiful.   That same theory applies to college basketball but with exponentially more options.  Where there are 130 FBS college football teams, there are 351 Division 1 college basketball teams.  This translates into an average of over 175 games on any given week.  On a busy weekend, there could be in upwards of 100 games on the college basketball board – with opportunities for edges to be found and value to be had.  My analysts often know more about these teams than the books themselves and we pounce on them.  With 351 teams, how much time can a book spend setting the Fairfield v. Marist line on a Tuesday night?  Keep your eye out for small market games, especially early in the season as we will be sending them out frequently to our members.

2. To Buy or Not to Buy

Though I don’t normally buy points as a general practice, college basketball is one of the sports that it is valuable to buy in a few certain circumstances.  Similarly, for some NCAAB plays, it is better to play the money line, depending on the numbers.  We will lay the -120 to get to one of the key NCAA Basketball numbers.  Make sure your book is charging proper juice and not adding an extra 5-10 cents. Always hunt out the best line.  It is so important to get the correct number on college basketball sides. I would recommend getting as many sportsbook accounts as possible in your home state.   And if you are in a state that is new to sports betting make sure to take advantage of all of the signup promotions that are currently available.   These promotions are located on my odds feed at krackwins.com/odds-board/

3. Totals, Totals, Totals

As all KrackWins Nation knows, we are all about the totals, no matter the sport.  College basketball is no exception.  While college football offers at most a 20 point variance, most college basketball totals are going to be in the 120 to 160 range.  Teams that shoot a lot of 3 pointers or play a fast paced style can be more impacted by a specific type of defense, making that contrast vital in setting/betting a number.  Opportunities abound on certain totals throughout the season if you know where to find them.

4. Bankroll Management

Broken record time…bankroll management is always key, but more important than ever in college basketball.  Games will start at as early as 7:00 pm EST on weeknights and Noon EST on weekends and run through 11:00 pm EST starts for West Coast games.  This presents several different spots in which one could chase earlier losses.  DO NOT FALL IN THAT TRAP.  Keep your bets the same based on bankroll percentage throughout the season or you will be on tilt before conference play begins.

College basketball may be played by amateurs, but betting college basketball is, simply put, a professionals game.  Do not go at it alone.  While you may have the time to check the scores or the standings each day, the KrackWins team researches for hours each day to come up with our selections.  You know that being a plus gambler requires dedication and discipline over the long haul and no haul is longer than the college basketball marathon.  We will be grinding each day to find the value for you so let us do the heavy lifting this season.  Enjoy the Hoops everyone.
