With every sports league and media outlet never missing a single opportunity to squeeze every dollar and eyeball into their product as possible. The July 4th Holiday is a real swing and a miss. The featured event of the day is the Nathan’s Hotdog eating contest? We cheer on Joey Chestnut as a cult hero for being able to eat 70 hotdogs in 10 minutes? How about making the MLB All Star Game take place on July 4th? How about they steal an idea from the NHL and make the two teams USA vs The World? This would bring back some excitement to the game that has become a real snooze-fest and would get folks feeling their patriotism even more. Or at least much more than the feeling we get watching an American scarf down 70 hotdog buns dipped in water.

Following in his father’s footsteps, Vlad Guerrero Jr won this years Home Run Derby, 16 years after his father accomplished this same feat. The last two weeks of MLB betting have been slow, going 9-11-1 (-3.1 units.) Traditionally, the 4-5 weeks following the All-Star break have provided our best results. The last two weeks on the PGA tour saw Rickie Fowler winning his first tournament in over 4 years, followed by eventual winner Sepp Straka flirting with a Sunday 59 before he dropped a few shots on his last few holes. This week golf’s big guns like Rory, Scottie, Xander, and Viktor are across the pond playing in the Scottish Open, the traditional warm of for the final major of the year, the British Open next week.
The WNBA has come through for us the past two weeks, going 7-3 (+4.2 units) while the Vegas NBA summer leagues started slow (0-2, -2.2 units). Our sneaky CFL play came through (+1 unit), adding to a prior two-week total of 20-16-1 (+4.4 units.)
