Since the PASPA was overturned five years ago, sports betting (and actually gambling in general) has become much more widely accepted socially. While the benefits, in terms of more available action across the country and more opportunities to profit are clear, the risks should never be forgotten. This new generation of bettor is more likely than any before it to end up with a hurtful addiction. As with anything, once something becomes more socially accepted, the more likely it is that people will abuse it.
I have always been a proponent of responsible gambling and it is a message that members of this industry have a responsibility to keep promoting. With the World Series of Poker in town the last few weeks, I have seen for too many companies promoting gambling in the wrong light. The “No Gamble, No Future” attitude is a scary one to promote. Now I am all for taking gambles in life to move or get ahead but I draw the line when it’s comes casino/sports/lottery gambling with a negative edge. I am more in the school of “Calculated Risk-Taking”. Members of KrackWins know that we are always stressing concepts such as money management, measuring risk, etc. I truly hope that this younger generation doesn’t end up digging a hole for themselves via gambling the same way the generation before it did with credit card and school loan debt. Just some food for thought. Now, as for the action…
Sports Betting Picks Weekly Recap
NFL Training Camps are starting this week and the first Preseason game is only 3 weeks away. This season is shaping up to be one of the most exciting ever with too many story lines to even count. The MLB tradeline is on the horizon and we continue to fire away daily at the MLB board. Last week was profitable in the MLB (4-3-1, +.8 units) including a nice and easy UNDER 7.5 in the All-Star game. As teams separate into the buyers and sellers we will look to add some volume as late July and August have traditionally been my strongest time in the MLB season.
Summer Basketball was in full effect last week as we sprinkled around the WNBA (1-1, -.3 units) and NBA Summer League (2-2, -2 units.) The WNBA season is up units for the year though nothing can match our recent success in golf. Our player matchups have been undefeated the past 3 weeks, topped off by going 2-0 in the Scottish Open. I love the history of the British Open which tees off Thursday. This year’s host is Royal Liverpool. Rory McIlroy, who dramatically won the Scottish Open last week, won at Liverpool the last time The Open was there in 2014.
Overall, KrackWins had another week in the black, going 8-6-1, for a 2.3 unit profit. We are just over a month away from the start of the NCAA Football Season and a number of games have already been released. We will also be releasing our NFL Futures over the next few weeks. Sign up or upgrade to premium now to take advantage of all the best information in the business and let’s end the summer months in style!
