Weekly Recap, Bad Beats, and Looking Ahead – 1/8

Jan 8, 2020 | NFL, Sports Betting Picks Weekly Recap

While the holiday season is behind us, this weekend presents football fans with the gift of four fantastic games in the NFL playoffs.

You have a little bit of everything.  In the AFC, the upstarts from Tennessee – fresh off of dethroning the GOAT and defending champion Patriots – now face the NFL’s man of the moment, Lamar Jackson. Two faces of the league – Patrick Mahomes and Deshaun Watson – meet in Kansas City.  In the NFC, a number one seed with little to no playoff experience faces a reborn Kirk Cousins and a Vikings team once again getting a touchdown.  As the capper, two Super Bowl winning, future HOF QBs go at it when Russell Wilson and the Seahawks visit Aaron Rodgers and the Packers at Lambeau Field.  Three of these games have a spread of a TD or more, which is quite rare for the divisional round.

While fans are jazzed up for these games, a undeniable truth lurks around the corner for them.  After Monday night’s college football championship game between LSU and Clemson (I love the Tigers btw), there are only 3 more football games until next fall.  I can’t tell you how many times I have seen folks ramp up their bets at this time of the year, because they say “there are only a few games left!”.  Of course, this is a recipe for disaster.  I have mentioned repeatedly that your wager cannot be influenced by the time of day, week, or year.  The same way people chase their losses by going big on the weekly Sunday/Monday night (or Hawaii game), they do so in January when the board is limited.  Do not waste all the work you have done to increase your bankroll over the season by losing discipline on the scant remaining options.

Not only should you not do this as a matter of principle but also, as a KrackWins member, it’s not necessary.  The end of the football season is just a footnote for me and my team.  If anything, it means we now are in the heart of the college and NBA basketball season, the PGA season begins in earnest, and baseball is around the corner.  As you know, we are a year round shop and many of our best advantages come in these other sports.

As for the past week…College basketball went 9-10 on sides and 1-1 on totals (-2.45 units).  Our NBA winning percentage is creeping up to an electrifying 65% on the year, going 5-2 for the week (+4.2 units).  NHL action was limited this past week, going 0-1 (-1.3 units).  Two remaining bowl sides went 1-1 (-.2 units).  Our NFL props went 2-2  (-.15 units) and our lone NFL teaser 0-1 (-1.8 units).  PGA went 1-1 with a small dog win (+.1 units).  Overall, we went 19-18 (-1.38 units).

Enjoy the weekend slate of NFL and the College Championship, but don’t bust your bankroll.   Keep your 2019 gains intact and get ready.  For KrackWins, the action for the year has just begun.
