Wise Kracks sports betting podcast is back with a new episode direct from Las Vegas, with my co-host Jon Orlando. I’m coming in hot this week with my bets on the big Pacquiao fight from last weekend. It’s a glimpse into how the betting strategy of a professional stays fluid in response to changes in fight personnel, line movement and inside information. It’s also a reminder that, even for the best bettors, things don’t always go to plan in the sports betting game.

Special Guest Randy Cross
We’ve got a special guest joining us Wise Kracks this week. Randy Cross is a three time Super Bowl winner along with Joe Montana and the San Francisco 49ers. Randy has also forged a great broadcasting career since his retirement, covering NFL and college football for a variety of networks, and he’s got a great perspective on the sport. We discuss the role of sports betting in sports broadcasting, and how relevant the betting lines are from the perspective of a broadcaster.
Randy has one foot in the old school NFL and one in the new school of football, thanks to his role in broadcasting. We talk about how the game has evolved over that time, how body shapes have changed, how the style of play has changed and what kind of spectacle it is now compared to back in the day. I can’t let this opportunity pass without asking about Joe Montana, who Randy played with for years. Randy has some good insights into what makes athletes like Montana stand apart from others. Unsurprisingly, Jon can’t resist bringing up the million dollar question: Brady or Montana, who is the GOAT? You won’t be surprised who Randy goes for, but his reasoning is compelling.
Betting Strategies for College Football
Jon and I wrap up by looking ahead to upcoming sporting events, and what bets I have my eyes on. College football is just around the corner, and I explain how you’re more likely to find value when sportsbooks have upwards of 200 teams to keep track of during a crowded schedule. I also think the average bettor sets WAY too much store in the weather forecast for college games – with the possible exception of the wind. Jon and I discuss all of those tips and many more, just in time for the college football season, in this brand new episode of Wise Kracks.
