A tradition unlike any other……Masters week is here! Without a doubt it is the best golf betting event of the year. And what would The Masters be without drama and this year we have it before anyone hits the first tee. Tiger Woods announced that not only is he playing, but he thinks he can win. Sportsbooks are already seeing major action on Tiger to win and make the cut.
How To Bet On Golf
Golf betting has been one of my most profitable endeavors in the last two decades. While betting on a player “To Win” gets the casual bettor excited, I have made my bread betting individual matchups and mixing in a Top 5 or Top 10 here or there. Last year we hit on a few Top 5s and finished Masters week 5-1.
Betting on golf may seem simple but there are a lot of different options that bettors should understand. If you are playing matchups and futures you need to bet different amounts. I personally suggest 1.5-1.75% of your bankroll on matchups and .5-.75% on “To Win” and Top 5 or 10 bets.
Golf Betting On The PGA Masters
When betting the Masters, there are a few keys to explore when handicapping:
1) Course History is a huge indicator in any event, but even more so at the Masters. Look for players who’ve had some level of past success on this course rather than solely on who’s currently in the World Rankings Top 10.
2) A player’s recent form should be used for golf betting no matter the tournament. Golf is truly a sport in which the athletes run hot and cold. Keep an eye on the guys who are coming into this week on a rise or currently struggling.
3) When deciding on match up, I usually try to pick a golfer to bet on versus a golfer to bet against. Don’t just pick a someone you’ve handicapped as a good player versus anyone. Find someone they match up against that you’ve handicapped to have a bad week.
There are a lot of players in the field that can win this week, but that doesn’t mean you have to bet on all of them. Pick your spots and don’t risk too much of your bankroll.
