Post 4th of July and Pre Labor Day is really the heart of the Summer. Families take their vacations, the temperature rises, and the sports world becomes a bit quirky. Baseball takes it only break of the year for the All Star festivities – this year at Dodger Stadium in LA. Should be electric. The biggest events in sports aren’t even in this country as Wimbledon and the British Open take place across the pond. All 30 NBA Teams are in Las Vegas for the increasingly popular Summer League. And all the while…in the distance, everyone is waiting for the behemoth of NFL Football as training camps are right around the corner.
Summertime Betting Tips & Strategies
As I have said many times, gambling is way of life for me 364 days a year. I don’t get a summer vacation. That said, the summertime does present interesting challenges when analyzing the lines and the moves. In baseball, the games just before and just after the All-Star break can be tricky to handicap. Teams my alter rotations and rest could be given to allow for stubborn injuries to heal. I won’t shy away from a game where I see an edge, but typically will have slightly less volume. MLB now enters the second half with an eye on the playoffs we expect the volume to increase somewhat.
Always try to remember to never get too high and never get too low. That’s the mantra that I’ve lived by over the three decades of my gambling career. Staying disciplined through rough or mediocre stretches is one of the hardest but most important things a successful bettor can do. Given the time of the year and the sporadic volume, a two-week recap was in order.
