After a weekend stacked with top-tier events, Jon Orlando and I are back with another episode of Wise Kracks sports betting podcast. On today’s show, we chop it up over the Paul-Woodley boxing card, take a look at yet another wild week in the NFL, and review all of the College Football Bowl games.
Sports Betting Tips For The Covid-Era
It seems like it’s been the case recently more than ever that games and lineups are being shifted daily due to Covid-19. I sum up the sports bettor’s perspective – we’re no longer betting on sports. We’re betting on who tests positive for Covid.
I share with our listeners how a slow-moving sportsbooks can be exploited by staying on top of publicly-available updates on Covid and it’s impact on pro sports. There are so many changes happening so quickly, it’s really hard for books to move quickly enough to stop sharp bettors from scalping and middling.
PNC Golf Tourney And The Toughest Dad In Pro Sports
Another fun event last week was the PNC Golf Tourney. Father and Son (or in one case father and daughter) battled it out with Jon Daly and his son JD 2 beating out a star-studded roster of competitors. Truth be told, most people were focused on Tiger Woods and his 12-year-old son Charlie. Charlie appears to be a prodigy, which got us thinking: Who is the toughest dad to have in pro sports?
After considering a few solid choices including Wayne Gretzky, Mike Tyson, Tom Brady, and even Michael Jordan, Jon and I point straight at Tiger and Charlie. It’s interesting because Jon grew up the son of a legit music star, the great Tony Orlando.
Paul Vs. Woodley and Paro Remains Undefeated
Saturday night saw another victory for Jake Paul, this time a sequel to his previous fight with Tyron Woodley. Like most sequels it was predictable and a little bit disappointing.
Despite most people’s eyes being locked on the main card, we were more interested in cheering on our former guest Liam Paro. The young undefeated Australian boxer was making his US debut in a tough match against the also-undefeated Yomar Alamo. Paro took it down by split decision and it’s safe to say that if you hadn’t heard his name before, that won’t be the case for long.
Fighters who have appeared as guests on Wise Kracks are actually undefeated this year. The list includes Paro, Julian Marquez, Giga Chikadze, and Jake Paul (technically we had his trainer BJ Flores on the show but Paul was on camera during parts of the interview).
Make sure to send us your questions on Twitter @BillKrackMan, @JonOrlando and @WSNsports. We pick listener questions every week.
