One of the most popular terms that has entered every sports fan’s vernacular since gambling took off is “Bad Beat.” If you follow me and my mantras, you could guess that I have never really been a fan of the term or what it connotes. I learned long ago that in order to become a successful sports bettor over the long term, you can’t focus on one game, one loss, one play that screwed you, etc. Doing that adds a level of emotion to sports betting that I always try to avoid.
It’s easy to lose yourself in this business. The calendar keeps flipping and the grind never takes a day off. There is always another game, another line to analyze. Once the confetti hits the ground celebrating a champion in one sport, another sport is set to begin. This week marks the last real regular season games before conference championship games and then, one of my sweet spots for making money, the bowl season.
The holiday season in college basketball is filled with pre-conference tournaments in places like the Bahamas and Hawaii. Time at home with food and family means hoops all day on the TV and action everywhere from morning to night. The only way to win is through discipline and following proven methods like the once we preach.
As we enter the winter season, we say good bye to the Major League Baseball grind and hello to the College Basketball season. As I have said plenty of times before, NCAA Basketball is my favorite sport to bet on with the most opportunities.
The Fall Classic has been just that so far as the 107 win Astros and the underdog Phillies seem destined to go the distance. No matter who comes out on top, baseball closes shop until next Spring. But you won’t see any tears shed here as the goodbye to baseball means it’s time to say hello to a sport that fills the board (and my heart) with joy.
Everyone has their favorite season. Most kids love the summer – school break, swimming pools and road trips. Some love the winter – holiday feast and cheer. For me, I’ve always loved the fall. Is it the change of seasons? The autumn foliage? Hell no. It’s the full board of course. The world of sports betting has entered its zenith with NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, PGA, and NCAA Football all in swing. And….drumroll please….In two weeks, the board adds what has to be my most profitable sport in decades of betting professionally – College Basketball.
We have reached the total sports betting equinox. This week we have had NBA, NFL, MLB and NHL all going at the same time! It’s very easy to get overwhelmed with the board always full and volume rising. The most important thing I tell my followers and subscribers each week is to stay within my bankroll guide and never bet more than 3% of your BR on one play. It sounds easy, but I have come across plenty of people that can lose on a 7-3 day. Now it is even harder to show discipline with so many opportunities at our finger tips.
If the first five weeks of this NFL season has taught us anything, it’s that the gap between the winners and the losers continues to widen as more and more people around the country “try their hand” at sports betting. Never before has getting good information been more valuable than it is now. Through the first five weeks of the season, KracksWins’ NFL plays are hitting at a 64% clip while the Public currently sits around 40%.
With all the new states coming on line and all the new sportbooks to choose from, it is easy for a new sports bettor to get overwhelmed. Not only are there many books to choose from, but within those books there are hundreds of options on which to place a wager. In today’s mobile age, your next sports bet is always just a click away.
We are living in the age of information. The sports betting world is constantly changing and there is tons of information readily available at our finger tips each day. What you, as a sports bettor, has to do is figure out which information is valuable and which information is simply useless created content. If you search social media, 95% of people claim to be winning sports bettors when the truth is less than 1% win long term. Reposts are retweets of winning bets and how their “best bets” are 3-0 this season. This is an injustice to real professionals that grind daily and have real trackable long term results.
It is easy to lose yourself in the sports betting business. It’s the path I’ve chosen for my life and while I couldn’t imagine doing anything else, don’t let anyone every tell you it’s easy. The board never shuts down and the action never stops. Slow down…and risk getting left behind.
