If you’re into movies, this is the Wise Kracks episode for you. We’re not even being specific on what kind of movies.
Why? Because the guest on this week’s show has been in almost anything & everything! Actor Holt McCallany joined the show and was filled with stories and insight into the acting world that you don’t want to miss.
My cohost, Jon Orlando and I also break down what’s going on in the NBA, MLB and WNBA.
Oh and if you want more celebrity star power… We’ve got a hilarious story about Kevin James’ historic (yet awful) first pitch!
Actor Holt McCallany Joins The Show!
If you’ve ever watched a movie, you’ve probably seen Holt McCallany. Often portrayed as the ‘bad guy,’ Holt is anything but that. You’ve seen him in Mindhunter, Wrath of Man, Fight Club, Jack Reacher Never Go Back, Men of Honor, and Sully, just to name a few.
He’s starred alongside actors such as Tom Hanks, Tom Cruise, Liam Neeson, Ed Harris, Sly Stallone, George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Sigourney Weaver, and Bradley Cooper.
As you’re watching the interview, you’ll notice how good of a guy Holt is. It makes it kind of funny the next time you see Holt in a movie portraying a bad guy.
Holt compared playing a bad guy to someone playing in the NFL because of an opportunity:
“I don’t want to lose my spot in the lineup. I want to stay. That’s how you do it. You find a way to make your guy, to justify his actions.”
In the 1995 movie Tyson, Holt played legendary trainer Teddy Atlas, considered to be one of the most iconic and best boxing trainers in history.
Holt spoke of this and recalled an eye-opening story about Teddy Atlas:
“I remember one of his fighters, a guy I really like, he said that if he didn’t do a good job in a particular round, if he didn’t go out there and do the things they worked on, if he didn’t execute the instructions he was given in the corner by Teddy Atlas… he didn’t want to go back to the corner!”
Holt Throws Out The First Pitch At A Mets Game… Better Than Kevin James
Throwing out the first pitch of a baseball game seems like a lot of fun, but there’s also the potential to be on the wrong side of the internet.
If you throw a good first pitch, the crowd cheers and you’re set. If you throw a bad one… Just ask 50 Cent what happens.
“They asked me to throw out the first pitch for the Mets,” said Holt. “It was such an honor for me. I went and took pitching lessons. I took pitching lessons for six weeks to throw one ball!” You’re probably asking yourself – six weeks for one pitch?! Why!
“I had seen the actor Kevin James… I like Kevin, he’s a wonderful guy. He’s from Queens. He was the King of Queens! A lifelong Mets fan! Kevin got up on the mound and threw it 20 feet in the dirt and got booed out of the stadium. I said ‘that’s not happening to me!'”
