There is a different feel in the air once the confetti has been cleared off the field at the Super Bowl and the NFL Network is relegated to showing the Combine and Senior Bowl. Having to wait six plus months for football to return can make any avid sports bettors feel empty. Don’t worry, the Krackman is here for. My team is deep into the basketball season and gearing up for March Madness, the NBA’s second half and the heart of the PGA season. And, as the days start to grow a bit longer, you sense that the spring and the Major League Baseball grind are around the corner.
NBA All Star Weekend
NBA All Star Weekend took place in Cleveland and if you happened to miss it, consider yourself lucky. The dunk contest was universally considered the worst of all time and the format of the game itself left a lot to be desired. I think format changes are on the way. I have to admit, it was cool to see the NBA’s 75th anniversary team, closed out by the GOAT, Michael Jordan. The NBA has been a bit of a rollercoaster for KrackWins (around .500 on the year.) With trades complete and teams jostling for the playoffs, we expect our success rate on totals to rise in the second half.
College Basketball Picks
College Basketball has been profitable this year, even with the run of horrible bad beats we have had recently. Without question, NCAA Basketball is the #1 sport for bad beats as late game fouls and 3 pointers can swing a side or total in the blink of an eye. In the last month we had two nearly identical scenarios being handled completely differently. In one game, we needed UNDER 120, and the team up 10 rebounded the ball with 14 seconds ready to dribble it out the game with the total sitting on 119. The team down 10 choose to foul and we lose the under with two free throws. A week later we had a favorite -8 who was up 8 with the ball and 34 seconds remaining. The losing team did NOT foul in this situation and let the winning team dribble out and the game lands 8.
Bottom line, that’s why you never get too high or too low on a win or a loss. These things happen. You have to take emotion out of it and understand that at the end of the year, it will even out. Let’s dive into my overall sports betting picks recap for the week.
Sports Betting Picks Recap
Even with a few bad beats, we went 11-11-1 for the week (-0.6 units.) Amazingly, the college hoops regular season is coming to and end and we are primed for a huge run in Conference Tournaments, March Madness and the NBA Playoffs. With sports betting markets expanding, we are also hoping to pick off player props throughout the NBA postseason. The Masters in April starts the PGA major season and pitchers and catchers report as soon as the labor folks get their heads out of their….
