Can you feel it? Spring is here. The azaleas are in bloom at Augusta National. Peanuts and Cracker Jack are circulating in baseball stadiums. Vaccines are flying off the shelves and into America’s arms.
Everywhere you look, there are signs of getting back to normal. Las Vegas reservations are surging and will keep growing. The travel industry is expecting a big summer as stir-crazy travelers hit the road.
I am thrilled for a full baseball season. Stadiums around the country already allow reduced fan attendance with the hope of increases as we move toward summer. On the betting side, I love the every-day action that MLB provides. Last year, we were profitable even with the challenges of a shortened season, lack of fans, and rule changes. This year, my team is salivating and expects to boost our winning percentage. Stay tuned for my baseball primer which will hit the app/site this week.
College basketball crowned Baylor as its champion this week, ending UVA’s 728-day reign as defending champion and, more notably, ending Gonzaga’s dream of a perfect season. In KrackWins Nation, I want to congratulate the Snowman who won the KrackWins Bracket Challenge and prevailed over a field of nearly 500 entrants. Mr. Snow had 3 of the 4 Final Four picks, plus Baylor beating the Zags to win it all. Also, congratulations to all Top 20 winners!
Sports Betting Picks Recap and Look-Ahead
Now, on to the sports betting picks recap. The last two rounds of the Tournament were rough, as we went a lousy 2-7 (-9.2 units) the past two weeks. This was out of character for us and certainly put a sour note on an otherwise highly profitable NCAAB season. As I preach repeatedly, variance happens, but nonetheless I hate losing – much more because of the trust you place in me than the hit to my own bankroll.
That said, there is no time to wallow or look in the rear view with all that is in front of us. NBA (6-6 / -.9 units the past two weeks) is in the meat of its schedule as teams either tank or jockey for playoff positioning. The PGA tour is in full swing with the first major this weekend, the Masters. If it feels like just yesterday that we crowned Dustin Johnson champion, well, that’s because it was this past November when the postponed event was played. A number of matchups have already been sent out and more are on the way. Golf matchups went 2-1-1 (+1.6 units) the past two weeks. Members that have been with us for some time know how we perennially dominate golf.
Baseball went 3-3, (-.3 units) to start the year and FCS Football kissed its sister, going 3-3 (-.3 units). Overall, the last two weeks were tough, as we went 16-20-1 (-9.1 units). It is a bump in the road, but needs to be viewed in the context of an unprecedented winning streak from late September through January that has yielded an overall profit well over 100 units. That is what the few long-term winning professionals do: look at the bigger picture and long-game.
We now enter a period that is the biggest KrackWins differentiator: our ability to pick advantage plays and generate profits year-round with sports such as golf, baseball, WNBA, late season NBA, Summer League hoops, and then finally juicy preseason NFL/NCAAF. This season is when we find the largest array of hidden gems that the books do not see.
So, a toast to spring, new life post-winter and pandemic, and sports in full bloom. As always, stay safe, get vaccinated, and enjoy that return to normal we all have been pining for.
