If the commissioners of any sport ever question how important fans are to the game, they need to look no further than the opening week of the NFL season. While the NFL managed to play a full season last year, it never felt right. The fans and the excitement they bring truly makes all the difference, even if you are just watching from home.
From a fantastic game between Tampa Bay and Dallas on Thursday to a wild Monday night tilt between the Ravens and the Raiders, the NFL launched with a bang. I was fortunate enough to be at the Raiders game – the first NFL regular season game with fans in Las Vegas Raiders history. It was nothing short of electric. The stadium is truly next level and the buzz in the building was off the charts. As for the game itself – well, it was just like many Vegas experiences for the home team. Down big early, crawl back to even, have victory at your fingertips only to throw it away, and then, just when hope is lost, go home a winner with a big play at the end. Truly Vegas Baby, Vegas.
Increased NFL Action At Sportsbooks
That excitement was matched by the action seen by sportsbooks. Licensed bookmakers are now operating in 26 states and Washington DC, with more jurisdictions expected to come online in the next several months. Over 60 million online transactions took place Thursday through Sunday: a 126% increase from the same period at the start of the 2020 NFL season. New Jersey had the highest volume of online sportsbook transactions, followed by Pennsylvania, Michigan, Arizona and Illinois. Incredibly, sports gambling became legal in Arizona just hours before the kickoff on Thursday and more than 271,000 newly created accounts combined for over 6.1 million transactions during the first four days of NFL action. Let’s dive into my sports betting picks recap for the last two weeks.
Sports Betting Picks Recap
College football had a rough start but rebounded a bit in Week 2, including going 2-0 on our primo FCS games, resulting in a 13-19 record for the two weeks (-11.6 units). NFL totals went 2-1-1 (+1.4 units) and NFL props lost 2.4 units. Baseball went 7-7 (-.7 units) for the two weeks, PGA Matchups went 2-0 (+3.5 units) and the WNBA continued to be a cash cow, going 4-0 (+6.75 units). Overall, we landed at 30-32-1 (-3 units) for the two weeks.
While I am not thrilled with a slightly below even last two weeks, the fact is that there always are adjustments to be made early on as you see how teams perform under the lights, especially when your betting volume surges from the summer doldrums. Last year, we had a softer start in early September before going on an unprecedented 24-week winning streak from late September through January. It truly is one of the best times of the year to be a bettor and the KrackWins’ team is grinding to find advantage plays wide across the board in all sports. Remember with a big increase in play volumes to buckle in, be patient, do not chase, and let the power of the insider edge work its inevitable bankroll building magic over time.
