The 2021-22 NFL season came to a close this past weekend, and what an exciting playoffs we all got to enjoy! Overtime games, last minute go-ahead drives, upsets and comebacks all mixed in with a very entertaining Super Bowl!
The Los Angeles Rams stood alone after all the smoke cleared this past Sunday night. The Rams finally got their redemption on the stinker they put up three short years ago when they lost to the New England Patriots 13-3. This time around they defeated Joe Burrow and the upstart Cincinnati Bengals 23-20. Trailing 20-16 late in the 4th quarter, Matt Stafford engineered a 15 play drive to put the Rams ahead for good. Stafford, who had spent his entire 11 year career with another franchise that’s never made a Super Bowl, now has his championship ring. Sean McVay, who was the youngest coach ever hired by a NFL Team, now becomes the youngest ever to win the Super Bowl (36 years and 20 days) And Offensive Player of the Year Cooper Kupp added the Super Bowl MVP to his award shelf after having one of the most ridiculous regular seasons a Wide Receiver has ever had.
Legalized Sports Betting Hits All-Time High
Legalized sports betting also hit an all-time high this football season. Commissioner Roger Goodell, who pushed back on sports betting many times during his run, has done a complete 180 on his stance. In March of 2017 the Commissioner stated “I think we still strongly oppose legalized sports gambling. The integrity of our game is No. 1. We will not compromise on that.”This last year Goodell was quoted saying “We’re going to find ways we can engage fans through legalized sports betting.”
Amazing that during this year’s Super Bowl there was even a commercial for Caesers Sportsbook!
Just a short four years ago the Supreme Court struck down the federal ban on single game wagering. We are now legal in 30 different states and jurisdictions! Some thought that Las Vegas, the long time mecca of sports betting, would suffer from legalization. Turns out that was far from what’s happened. Nevada sportsbooks saw nearly 180 million dollars in wagers on the big game this year. This shattered the old record by nearly 35 million! Sports betting is here to stay and can only continue to rise from here as more and more states go legal. Now let’s dive into my sports betting picks recap.
Sports Betting Picks Recap
The last two weeks for Krackwins was a total rollercoaster. College basketball was hot and cold, finishing 20-24. Our NFL props went 7-7-1 and NBA is starting to pick up going 4-2. We finished the two weeks 31-33 (-10.1 units). Remember, we will have stretches like this. It’s very important to continue to follow the scale and not chase your losses!
With football season now over we start to really focus on the NBA, NCAA Hoops and the PGA tour. We will be playing more and more Golf matchups as the season moves forward. The Masters is less than two months away and MLB should be right around the corner also. The grind continues…
