Sports Betting Picks Recap and Look-Ahead – 4/16/21

Apr 16, 2021 | Sports Betting Picks Weekly Recap, Golf, MLB, NBA, NCAAB

Being a successful sports bettor over the long haul is not easy.  If it was, everyone would do it.  That may seem like a cliché: but stop and really think about it for a minute.

If you could make a living by clicking buttons on an app every night and pass the time by watching games, wouldn’t you choose that over most occupations?  Of course you would!  The reality of what it takes to make a living betting sports year after year, however, is far less glamorous and far more difficult.

There are many characteristics one must have to be successful.  I am often asked if any is more important than the next.  If I had to choose one, I would put discipline atop the list of required traits.  Staying consistent in the manner that you bet (units, bankroll management, etc.) is crucial, but, most of all, is staying the course unemotionally when you have an edge despite how many rough patches you may hit along the way.  If you have an edge and you have discipline, you will win over time, build your bankroll, and profit handsomely.

March did not bring the profit I aim for and generate long-term.  We wound up flat for the month (-.2 units) with a disappointing last two weeks of March Madness.  But guess what?  That is part of the game.  We always keep grinding, employ sound money management, remember it is a marathon not a sprint, and know that our edge ultimately prevails long-term.  Always. Let’s dive into my sports betting picks recap.

Sports Betting Picks Recap and Look-Ahead

Which brings me to our results this past week: a 19-7 / +21.1 unit winner.  If you gave up or broke discipline, because of a flat March with some bumps near the end, you would have missed out on an outstanding week that delivered about as much unit profit as some months can deliver.  Continued discipline gets rewarded over time.

The Masters matchups went 3-2 (+1.5 units) as Hideki Matsuyama won Japan’s first male golf major.  More golf plays already are out for this week’s Heritage Open in Hilton Head.

Major League Baseball went 5-3 (+1.9 units) and NBA was a scorching 5-1 (+5.7 units).  We even sprinkled in some NCAA Hockey, going 1-1 (-.5 units).  The cherry on top was FCS football, which has been strong all year, but really blazed this week, going 5-0 (+12.5 units).

I always am thrilled when we deliver a week like this one to our members.  And while there will be many more to come, it is important to remember that the same discipline applies.  Don’t chase losses and don’t get loose with winnings.  Stick with the plan, adopt professional betting habits, and we will all enjoy a very profitable year.
