Sports Betting Picks Recap and Look-Ahead – 4/23/21

Apr 23, 2021 | Sports Betting Picks Weekly Recap, Golf, MLB, NBA, NFL

Love of sport is something that universally bonds fathers and sons across the globe.  In California, guys like my Wise Kracks’ co-host Jon Orlando, have vivid memories of watching the Dodgers dominate the 80’s alongside their dad.  In Argentina, kids huddled around the television to watch Maradona and then passed their love of soccer on to their kids decades later.

I remember listening to the Bronx Bombers with my father, either during a hot summer day on the porch with the radio, or inside on the tube at night.  The old man also loved boxing and always tuned in for the big events.  I can remember my favorite uncle George would come down from the Bronx every weekend and watch boxing with my dad.  He was a tough as nails Puerto Rican who lived for boxing along with his countrymen.  Back in the day, boxers were the biggest stars in the world and folks like Sugar Ray Leonard, Marvin Hagler, Ray “Boom Boom” Mancini, and Vinny Pazienza were larger than life.

The State Of Boxing Today

I don’t know exactly what my Dad and George, God rest both their souls, would have to say about the state of boxing today…but I’m sure they would not like that the most talked about fight of the year was between a 2-0 YouTube star and a martial arts fighter, making his first appearance as a boxer.  I know Uncle George would have not paid $49.99 for that card.  Hell, he wouldn’t have paid 49 cents.  And I don’t blame him.

Sadly, that’s where the sport known as the “sweet science” is today.  Maybe someone will come along who transcends the sport, like the greats from decades ago, and can lift boxing – real boxing that is – back again to where it belongs.  Until then, I will have to subsist by reminiscing with my good friend, legendary trainer Teddy Atlas, and others about my wonderful memories of fight night with Pops: leaning into the TV set from the couch and feeling like we were the ones delivering the blows.

Now, as you know, I do not have to love a sport to bet on it.  Last weekend, that certainly was the case, as I won a very nice chunk of change betting on Jake Paul.  Of course, the joy I had when cashing was exponentially greater knowing KrackWins Nation got the same winning pick on the match.  We had Jake’s trainer as our guest on the Wise Kracks podcast before the fight, which really boosted my confidence.  Make sure you catch this week’s episode to hear all my thoughts on the fight and the bets.  Let’s dive into my sports betting picks recap for the past week.

Sports Betting Picks Recap and Look-Ahead

As for the rest of the recap, FCS football, coming off a 5-0 week, gave some back, going 1-3 (-5.6 units).  Golf had its first tough weekend, going 0-2 (-3.7 units).  MLB and the NBA remained on fire with baseball going 5-2 (+4.2 units) and hoops going a strong 5-2 (+4.1 units).  Overall, we went 12-9 and dead even on units for the week after a blazing winner the week prior.

This week, stay tuned as one of my favorite things to bet, NFL draft props, will be released.  Our information is second to none, evidenced by our 9-1 record over the last two drafts.  The draft kicks off Thursday night.  Elsewhere in football, the FCS playoffs start this weekend and will bring some action.  Baseball, NBA, and PGA will keep the spring card filled, so let’s watch the green grow outside and in the wallet.
